Job Description:

Kratos is a trusted global satellite ground systems, communications monitoring, RF interference detection and network management company. Kratos is in the process of evolving and growing our SATCOM enterprise service management product offerings to better serve our government customer base.  We are seeking a Project Engineering professional to help solve customer issues in managing complex interconnected systems of satellite terminals, gateways, provisioning software, monitoring systems, and terrestrial networks.


We have an exciting opportunity for a Shipping Clerk.

Experience and Skills:

Shipping/Receiving Clerk


Job Functions:

•           Coordinate and approve all shipments, including international shipments in accordance with U.S. trade laws for Kratos business units and as guided by corporate Trade Compliance

•           With guidance from corporate export experts, verify proper export jurisdiction and classifications for products, technology and software in accordance with applicable U.S. export controls (EAR and ITAR)

•           Analyze proposed international logistics activities for export control implications

•           Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow

•           Ensure accurate and timely data entry into internal operational system

•           Ensure arrival notices are communicated to internal customers

•           Interact with business units in arranging US and international shipments, meeting customer services standards

•           Contribute to maintaining good relationships with freight forwarders

•           Meet compliance at all times with internal and external processes in accordance with U.S. export regulations and other governing standards

•           Understand department process flow, looking for best practices to improve operational efficiency and productivity

•           Help business partners understand the risks and consequences of given international logistics situation. Effectively communicate the consequences and develop alternatives to manage identified risks

•           Manage record keeping and reporting requirements

•           Unload and load trucks

•           Look for dock safety concerns and when identified, report them to supervisor

•           Follow all ISO procedures

•           Use a forklift truck, hoist, or other material handling equipment

•           Maintain files and records of shipping and receiving documents for domestic and international transactions

•           Calculate weights and sizes in preparation of international commercial invoice requirements

•           Review customer shipping requirements and have familiarity with current Incoterms and other applicable shipping standards

•           Responsible for monitoring each shipment to make sure that outgoing packages are packed correctly and accurately

•           Print shipping labels, schedule pick-ups, and ensure that each package is shipping in accordance with customer specific requirements

•           Monitor and maintain stock of shipping supplies

•           Properly dispose of or reuse all shipping material

•           Other duties may be assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


•           Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards

•           Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors

•           Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary

•           Ability to adhere to workplace rules

•           Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications/training to safely operate forklift truck, hoist, or other material handling equipment

•           Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally

•           Must be able to demonstrate accurate basic math skills

•           Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills with the ability navigate and use ERP system   and Microsoft Office applications


Education and Experience:


•           Strong organizational and prioritization skills

•           Familiarity with U.S. Trade Regulations is a plus

•           Requires high school education or equivalent

•           Preferably 4+ years related experience in a Shipping or Receiving environment

•           Must possess a valid state drivers license and current motor vehicle insurance with clean motor vehicle driving record

•           May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship)


Work Environment/Physical Requirements:


•           Ability to function in an office and manufacturing/shipping area environment with uncontrolled climate

•           Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time

•           Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones, lifting boxes, etc.)

•           Ability to lift up to 50 to 75 pounds

•           Standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, using material handling equipment


U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance is required.
