The Technical Operations Systems Administrator is responsible for the support, deployment and administration of information technology systems, network infrastructure, virtual machines, client and server hardware and applications in a hybrid Windows/Linux environment. The role will support technical operations and information operations teams in systems administration related functions in order to improve operations and efficiency across a diverse and fast-paced environment.

Experience and Skills

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and administer production systems environment consisting of multiple windows domain elements, Linux systems and network infrastructure
  • Support projects with systems administration functions spanning Linux and Windows based clients and servers
  • Administer and maintain virtualized infrastructure and systems using VMware ESXi/Vsphere
  • Create and maintain system support documentation including diagrams, process and procedures
  • Support hosted applications and services
  • Work schedule as established by management to support project activities
  • Occasional after-hours on-call support may be required
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by management

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or related technical discipline and 5 years direct experience.  Will consider prior military service and/or work experience as substitute of post-secondary degree
  • Recent system administration experience in a Windows domain and active directory environment
  • Recent system administration experience with one or more of the following UNIX/LINUX variants:  Red Hat, CentOS, SuSE
  • Familiarity with system and network monitoring tools such as Solar Winds, Nagios, Dell OpenManage
  • Experience with DevOps concepts and tools
  • Experience with VMware administration
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP
  • Experience in scripting and command line usage in Bash, csh, and Power Shell
  • Experience in managing services such as: DHCP, DNS, data backup systems based on LTO and RAID arrays
  • Experience with implementing and maintaining sustainable backup and recovery strategies
  • Workstation and desktop support experience
  • Must have excellent trouble-shooting skills
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Telco and physical carrier level transport knowledge a plus
  • Current Security+ (401/501) Certification or ability to acquire certification within 90 days of hire


U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance is required.
