Job Description

This position will entail providing classroom and simulator aerial gunnery instruction and weapon system subject matter expertise for aircrew students.



  • Instructs students on all Special Mission Aviator (SMA), Flight Engineer (FE), or Crewchief duties of the UH-1N and/or MH-139A helicopters for both academic and simulator phases.

  • Write, edit, and update existing academic course curriculum and perform scheduled academic review sessions.

  • Provides feedback/critiques during all phases of operations.

  • Captures metrics on student and instructor performance.

  • Supervises students during flight procedures and ground training. Instructs students on aircraft weapon systems, equipment, limitations, and emergency procedures.

  • Demonstrates maneuvers for all required simulator flights.

  • Ensures each mission is conducted safely and efficiently by managing the crew resources.

  • Record each student's progress in the grade book as required.


Experience and Skills


  • Minimum 5 Years as a qualified USAF UH-1N SMA M240D Instructor, Marine Corps UH-1N/Y Enlisted Aircrew (EAC), or qualified USAF HH-60G Flight Engineer Instructor

  • Existing, current or the ability to obtain a secret clearance.

  • Experience and technical knowledge of the following specific areas: Internal Loading, Weapons, Tactics, Helicopter Operations, Aerial Gunnery, Night Systems, Ground Threat Reaction.

  • Must be able to read and write fluently in English.

  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar

  • Curriculum and Courseware development experience

  • Deductive Reasoning — the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

  • Proficiency in the use of all applications within the Microsoft Office Suite.
