Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

To develop, design, and/or create flat patterns, fixtures, and tooling in order to meet quality, cost, and schedule objectives

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop flat patterns for formed parts. 
  • Design drill tools, weld fixtures, router boards, and other fixtures and assemblies as needed. 
  • Creates detailed manufacturing drawings. 
  • Works with Manufacturing Engineers and Shop Engineers including interpretation of engineering drawings. 
  • Develops quotes for new tooling requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

 This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

Experience and Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Proficient using Inventor CAD software.

Proficient understanding of GD&T.

Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).

Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.

Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.

Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.

Ability to adhere to workplace rules.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

AS in design drafting technology or similar degree, preferred.

2 to 4 years related experience in manufacturing.

Ability to calculate flat patterns.

Understanding of NC programming codes and method.

2 to 4 years’ experience using AutoDesk Inventor and AutoDesk Inventor 9 Essentials.

2 to 4 years’ experience using Geometric tolerancing.

Knowledge of AS400 programs preferred.

 

WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Office environment.

Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.

Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).

Ability to lift  up to 10 pounds.

Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
